Department of Physics

The Department of Physics offers a spectrum of opportunities reflective of both the integral character of physics in the liberal arts curriculum and its essential role in engineering and technology. The discipline of physics is fundamental to the understanding of all-natural phenomena and your gift today helps improve the quality of education we offer to our students.

 

As a department, we are committed to constantly evolving and reaching new heights. We aim to increase enrollment and visibility with the goal of providing our students a world-class education. Your donation today will be put to great use and assist with some of our key areas of need:

  • Financial assistance to students
  • faculty development to enhance teaching 
  • Undergraduate research opportunities in physics
  • Flexibility to explore new initiatives in line with strategic development

Your gift also helps us expand our reach outside of the campus community. In addition to educating current Men of Morehouse, the Physics department hosts the NuMaSS (Nuclear Materials and Space Sciences) Summer Program. Twenty rising 9th—11th graders and returning 12th graders participate in a summer enrichment program hosted by the Physics and Dual-Degree Engineering Programs.

 

Your gift today also provides our students opportunities to conduct research and travel to conferences. For example, our students annually participate in the National Society of Black Physicists (NSBP) Conference where current and former Morehouse students connect to present research, attend graduate school fair, and network with professionals in physics and engineering.
