Giving Tuesday 2019

Giving Tuesday is a national movement (started in 2012) that encourages people to give back. Morehouse is proud to participate in this special day of philanthropy! Giving Tuesday offers easy and fun ways to support what inspires you at Morehouse College.

Your support provides Morehouse College the ongoing resources that are crucial to its growth and success as the College challenges itself to be among the finest liberal arts institutions in the world. Donors touch lives every day with gifts that support academics, scholarship, and technology and infrastructure enhancements—to name just a few ways your dollars go to work. It takes the collective annual support of alumni, parents, friends, students, faculty, and staff to ensure Morehouse realizes its unique mission of developing men dedicated to lives of leadership and service.

Because Giving Tuesday is a time limited giving campaign, we strongly encourage you to make your gift online. This is the fastest and most immediate way to put your dollars to good use. Additionally, this is the only way to ensure your gift will qualify for any matches and challenges that are taking place throughout the event. To give by phone, you may call 470-639-0961 from 9:00 am to 11:59 pm on Giving Tuesday (December 3, 2019).

Last year's Giving Tuesday event was a record-breaking success. Nearly 500 donors raised $226,590 during the event! This year, with your help we can REACH HIGHER and meet our goal of raising $500,000 during Giving Tuesday! 

Philanthropic support makes a difference in all areas of the campus. We are appreciative of all our current donors, but ask that you consider making a one-time, additional gift to Morehouse College during Giving Tuesday in order to help further our progress. There's a lot to be proud of at Morehouse, and every dollar helps us to create and enhance the educational experience of our students.

Ambassadors are Morehouse College's digital leaders, sharing messages and creating excitement about Giving Tuesday before and during the campaign. Ambassadors help spread awareness—asking their network to participate in Giving Tuesday using their preferred forms of communication: email, text, phone, and social media. If you are interested in becoming an ambassador, you can register online or email giving@morehouse.edu with questions.

Yes, on the donation page you can indicate if you would like your gift to remain anonymous. Your privacy is important to us. All donor information is considered strictly confidential and is never sold to any third-party organizations.

Yes. On the donation page, you can choose to dedicate your gift "in honor of" or "in memory of" any individual. This can be a beautiful tribute to celebrate someone impactful to your Morehouse experience while at the same time making an immediate difference in the lives of our students on campus.

The College's Fund for Morehouse is unrestricted gifts allocated to the area of greatest immediate need. Annual gifts of this nature provide essential year-to-year support for financial aid, faculty development, infrastructure, and technology. Unrestricted gifts provide a necessary source of cash flow to keep the school operating and are critical to sustaining the Morehouse Mission. 

Did you know that only 10% of the fundraising revenue received by the College is unrestricted? This poses a challenge in our ability to be need-blind in admissions, provide support for faculty, and keep up with facilities and technology needs.

Your credit card is charged immediately upon finalizing your gift on the site. When making a gift with your credit card, be sure to use your billing address and NOT your mailing address.

All gifts are tax deductible to the extent provided by law. Once you complete your gift transaction, you will receive an email confirmation. This will serve as your official gift acknowledgement and tax receipt from Morehouse College.

To find out if your employer (or your spouse's employer) has a matching gift program, please visit our matching gift search form here. If so, please contact your Human Resources representative for a matching gift form.
